When country music star LARISSA TORMEY recorded her latest single, it was just intended to put a smile on the faces of her fans. And while the video for ONE DROP OF WATER - which premieres on Larissa's Facebook page at 8pm on Wednesday, April 8th- will certainly still do that, the song itself has suddenly become a timely reminder of the importance of the little things in life. And in a way none of us, least of all Larissa herself, could ever have imagined...

"I love to record songs that have a meaning to them", explained Larissa, "and when I write a song like that, or find one like that as in this case, that can also be fun for me and fun for my fans, that's the perfect scenario. When I decided to record 'One Drop of Water', it was that fun element that was the biggest influence. But because it's a gospel song written by the great American Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley, the song has a real depth to the lyrics when you listen to them. And when I was listening back to it just last week, it suddenly struck me that wow, the lyrics are a real reminder to us all that we shouldn't take anything for granted in life, especially now."

Larissa continued, "One Drop of Water' is all about a rich man who goes to hell when he dies. And the moral of the story is that once he was there, all of the riches he once held in this world couldn't buy him the one thing he really longed for in the next, which was something as simple as just one drop of water. And for all of us right now, as we try to maintain social distancing and staying as home as much as possible until we can get the Coronavirus under control, there are so many simple things that we're all longing for! Little things like being able to meet our friends for a coffee, and giving them a hug when we see them, so important and so nice to be able to do. But for now, even that is impossible. It's one drop of water in the song, and one cup of coffee in real life! [laughs]."

And something else Larissa is missing, is the chance to perform. The Russian-born, Irish based star was due to hold her first major solo concert in Ireland later this month, but like every other musician in Ireland, those plans have had to be placed on the back-burner for the time being.

"This is true, sadly. Everything was being put in place for a show in the Tuar Ard in Moate at the end of April. But obviously with the way things have gone over the last few weeks, we've had to change that. Nobody really knows what's going to happen next, so we couldn't really keep planning a show under those circumstances. But I'm a big believer in the fact that God's delays are not denials. So the show will go on eventually, I'm sure of that. And we'll have a great night when it happens. But for now, we all have to concentrate on more important things. When the time is right, we can get back to playing 'live' and enjoying coffees with our friends. And in the meantime, 'One Drop of Water' will remind us that we should never take those little things for granted again!"
