LARISSA AND DAVE 'AGREE TO DISAGREE' ON NEW HIT

After the success of their last collaboration, there was one thing that singer/songwriters LARISSA TORMEY and DAVE SHERIFF certainly agreed on. And that was that they should do it all again! So they are, and ironically enough it's on a song called AGREE TO DISAGREE. The track, written by Dave and produced by Peter Ware, is set to shine a more realistic - and light-hearted - light on love when it drops on February 12th, a couple of days before St. Valentine's Day.

Larissa and Dave first performed together on the title-track of Larissa's last album, the Michael Commins penned Breath Of Fresh Air, released last November. That particular track also featured the majestic talent of Scottish accordion superman, Brandon McPhee. That album also included Larissa's award-winning cover of Why Don't You Love Me?, which took home the prize for 'Amazing Female/Male Voice for a Folk/Americana Cover' at the Fair Play Country Music Magazine's Red Carpet Awards Show in Holland, just the week before the album's release. So the Kilbeggan based artist certainly has a few reasons to fondly remember her third country album. And she enjoyed one of them - working with Dave Sheriff - so much that when the opportunity arose to do so again, there was no doubt in Larissa's mind about what she wanted to do...

"Oh I said yes straight away, as soon as Dave told me he had a song he thought could be another great duet for us. First of all, the chance to record with Dave on another project really appealed to me because we got on so well together the first time, and because Dave is just so talented as a musician. But he's also a brilliant songwriter, and I knew if he had a song that he thought would be good for us to work on together, that it would be. And when he sent me Agree To Disagree, I knew I was right! It's a fun song, it's meant to make people smile and remember that to get along, especially in relationships, we all have to agree to disagree sometimes. Maybe a lot of times! [laughs]. So it shares a very important message in a very simple way that I think will make people smile a lot when they listen to it. When I was listening to it first, every line was making me say, 'Yes, that's me. And that's me too. And that as well!' [laughs]."

A gifted multi-instrumentalist, the song's writer, Dave Sheriff was a hugely indemand session musician who performed at the famous Wembley Country Music Festival in the 1970s, also working with the American country legend Don Gibson, and touring with Patsy Montana, and Slim Whitman. He began writing and recording back in 1991, with his debut album, One Man Band Extraordinaire, claiming Best Album honours at the 1993 UK Country Music Radio Awards. Recording much of his work in Nashville, where he has been joined by many of the musicians most responsible for the famed and distinctive 'Nashville sound', Dave even recorded a duet with the late, great country icon Porter Wagoner. Dave has often referred to the highlight of his career as being the moment when he performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage at the invitation of Wagoner in June 2000.

A man of seemingly innumerable talents, Dave also held no less than nine entries in the Guinness Book of Records between 1982 and 1989 in relation to his One Man Band act. He also appeared on one of Britain's most-loved and longest running soaps, Emmerdale Farm (as it was then known), as the country singer' Whispering Fred Jones' back in 1984. Looking ahead to what seems like it will be yet another strange year in the music industry, Larissa revealed that she plans to stay creative no matter what else happens, and hopes to release more of her own original music throughout the year.

Given that she recently received yet another international award, that would seem like a pretty good direction to head in! "I was very honoured, and very surprised too, let me tell you! The award for Best European Songwriter came in the post one day at the start of the year from the European Entertainment Association. It was for my own song, 'Black Cat', which I released last year. It was a wonderful surprise, and such a lovely way to begin the new year. So yes, for the rest of the year, I intend to keep writing, keep recording, and hopefully keep releasing more of my own music in the months ahead. I have an album's worth of my own songs very close to being ready to go, but it's important to get the timing right. I also have more country music that I want to share with people. So it should be a busy year, I think. And hopefully - fingers crossed - before it's over we might be able to perform 'live' again. That's everyone's dream right now. We can all agree on that. But in the meantime, hopefully fans will enjoy listening to Dave and I agree to disagree! [laughs]."
