Crowded Places- One Thing I don't miss ...

In all likelihood, there has probably never been a time when the release of a record called CROWDED PLACES was more appropriate, or served as a perfect bridge between eras that will be looked back on as two very distinct periods in history.

For singer/songwriter LARISSA TORMEY, the fact that a song written from such a personal perspective has taken on a far more universal context, even outside of the realm of the heart.

"We're all in such a strange place still, even though things are getting much better at last. And thank God. It's funny in some ways to think that only a couple of years ago crowded places were part of normal life. That was for everyone, but especially for anyone working in the music world. And then, all of a sudden - overnight - you couldn't find a crowded place anywhere for so long. Now, we're getting back there again slowly, but crowded places are still something many people will be unsure of for a while."

"When I was thinking about my next single", revealed Larissa, "this song immediately stood out. The plan was always to release another original of my own, so Crowded Places was on the list of songs we were considering. It's important for me as an artist to have that creative outlet, that freedom of expression that only really comes as a result of having a focus on your own material somewhere in what you do."

Larissa's ability to move effortlessly from putting her own magical touch to the work of others, while also sharing emotions harnessed from the valleys and fields of her own heart and soul, has seen her fanbase - and not just here in Ireland - continue to grow. As she revealed on her social media recently, Larissa has just added two further awards to her musical CV, with the news that the prestigious Red Carpet Awards Show in Holland named her as the winner of two categories at their awards show this year. Larissa took home the top prize for both the Best Folk Cover for Danny Boy (with Russian Flavour), and Best Folk Original for The Wind on The Hill.

Crowded Places is the follow-up to Larissa's late July release - also from her own pen - Old Fashioned, a song that will forever harbour the most bittersweet of memories for the Kilbeggan based artist. The video for the song starred her neighbour, Tom Lynam. Sadly, however, Tom died in a tragic accident just days after filming the video.

Larissa has also filmed a video to accompany Crowded Places, shot on location at the beautiful Belvedere House and Gardens, a location Larissa says she "fell in love with" over the course of the Covid lockdowns. In fact, that appears to be a two-way love affair, because not only has Larissa become a member at Belvedere House, she was recently invited to perform there.

Crowded Places is the latest offering from a long-player of original songs that's set for an early 2022 release, one of several projects Larissa has been working on over the last eighteen months.

Video premiere is scheduled for 8thof October 2021
