Larissa Tormey Announces New Christmas Single “Christmas Is On The Way” – Out 9 December
Irish singer-songwriter Larissa Tormey returns this festive season with a brand-new Christmas single, “Christmas Is On The Way,” arriving on 9 December across all streaming platforms.
What began as a forgotten demo almost never became a song at all.
Originally written as a 70s rock sing-along for an Asian retail campaign, the track was upbeat, commercial, and designed for advertising. But when the client passed, the song sat untouched on Larissa’s hard drive — abandoned, gathering digital dust.
“I have one rule,” Larissa says. “Songs belong out in the world, not buried in folders.”
In late November, she decided to take a risk. She stripped the entire production back and reimagined the melody as a warm, intimate lounge-jazz piece. A soft piano, cozy atmosphere, and a storytelling vocal — suddenly the song had a completely different heartbeat.
But with the new mood came a new challenge: the original lyrics no longer fit. So Larissa rewrote the story from scratch.
The new version paints a tender scene of two people sharing a quiet December evening — holding onto hope, cherishing small moments, and believing in better days ahead. Only one thing remained from the original draft: the hook, “Christmas is on the way.”
By 28 November, everything clicked. Two days later, Larissa recorded and mixed the final version herself. Now, the Christmas song that almost never existed is ready for the world to hear.
“Christmas Is On The Way” is a reminder that creativity can be reborn in unexpected ways — and that sometimes the best gifts arrive when we give an idea a second chance.
The single will be accompanied by a YouTube release featuring visuals that match the song’s warm, nostalgic feel, for relaxation, holiday ambience, and cozy winter evenings.
